What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a pleasant state of focused attention and deep relaxation during which beneficial suggestions and imagery are used to alter emotional or physical symptoms. It involves learning how to use your mind and thoughts to regulate emotional distress, unpleasant physical symptoms, or to break unwanted habits.

Can I be hypnotized?

Yes. All people have some level of hypnotizability. Some are low, most are in the mid-range, and some are high. While it's true that some people respond more quickly than others, everyone is hypnotizable and can achieve the same benefits from hypnosis. What does hypnosis feel like?

Each person's experience of hypnosis is different from the experience of others. Typically, your body relaxes and your thoughts become more focused. In this relaxed state, you will feel at ease physically, yet fully awake mentally. Your conscious mind becomes less alert, while your subconscious mind becomes more focused. There is never any loss of consciousness.

For those who meditate, it’s the same very relaxed and comfortable feeling.

 

Will I lose consciousness or fall asleep?

Hypnosis is not sleep. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the hypnotized person will fall asleep or lose conscious awareness. During hypnosis you are always awake, aware, in control, and you will hear and remember everything the hypnotist says.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend you start with two to three sessions (some issues require more). You may experience improvements after just one visit, but research shows that results are more pronounced with multiple sessions. Appointments are usually scheduled once a week, and after the initial 90 minute session, last one hour. However it is not uncommon for a client to come once or twice a month, for several months, depending on their issue. We encourage our clients to return for reinforcement and encouragement sessions whenever they feel the support would be beneficial.

 

What's the difference between hypnotism and psychotherapy?

Hypnotism is not psychotherapy. Psychotherapy (which we do not provide) is the diagnosis and conversational treatment of mental and emotional disorders. Professional hypnotism (which we do provide) is the use of relaxation and suggestion to adjust habits of thought, feeling, and behavior.

 

Are results guaranteed?

Most of our clients achieve their goals, largely because we limit our practice to motivated people. There are three vital elements that make hypnosis effective for you: motivation, belief, and expectation. Motivation refers to wanting something, like to quit smoking or lose weight. Next you must believe that it is possible to reach your goal. Finally, you must have the expectation that change will occur. Since hypnosis is a partnership between the hypnotist and client, success depends on both participants.

Should I use hypnosis in place of seeing my doctor or therapist?

No. Hypnotism is considered complementary in nature and is not intended as a substitute for traditional medical care or therapy. Hypnotists deal with self-improvement issues of individuals that do not qualify as medical disorders and are not serious enough to be considered psychological in nature.

 

Can I bring someone to my appointment?

There is a waiting room if you would like to bring a friend or spouse to your appointment. However, please keep in mind that your session is private and observers are not allowed.

Are online Zoom sessions as effective as in person sessions?

YES! We have many clients who we only see in online sessions. Some live in other parts of the country and some just prefer not to deal with L.A. traffic and instead enjoy their sessions from the comfort of their own homes. As long as you commit to the process, you will receive the same benefits from hypnosis!

What are your policies concerning payment and cancellations?

Payment is required to book an appointment and your appointment is not confirmed until payment is submitted.

Cancellation policy: (Please read before scheduling your session.)

 

We do our best to accommodate our client’s appointment requests. Your session time is reserved for you as we do not double book sessions. We have also spent time preparing an individualized session prior to meeting with you. A last minute cancellation or a no-show is time another client could have used. If you must cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time.

All cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to appointment time will incur a $50 cancellation fee for all 60 – 120 minute sessions, and $150 for Qhht or PLR sessions. The remainder of your session fee may be applied to reschedule your next session.

No show appointments will forfeit session fees.

Continuous cancellations and rescheduling of appointments after 3rd reschedule will result in termination of therapy.

If the client is over 15 minutes late, session is cancelled/considered a no-show and fees are forfeited.

Appointment times are not flexible. In the event a client arrives late, that appointment will end at the scheduled time so that the therapist and/or other clients are not inconvenienced.
